Jan Svankmajer

Jan Svankmajer

Svankmajer was born in Prague in 1934 and trained at the Institute of applied arts. He was influenced strongly by his parents and upbringing, which is evident in his animations. His animations are very serialist.  

Svankmajer style had a huge impacted of the world of animation. He inspired Graham Harper to make the film the silent hand. His work also had a huge impact on the directors of 'Saw' and 'Cabin in the Woods'.
